Sounds like a AWESOME idea!! I’ve been looking for something like for this for ages! But I’ve never been able to find it! I can’t do any programming or anything but I would be happy to test and report bugs etc!

Does WinAmp do all that stuff? I don’t really use it that often, but I don’t think it does… and anyway, it isn’t truly portable (unless you use a BAT script to restore registry entries).

Update: Songbird — http://www.songbirdnest.com/ — has been released! Once the bugs have been worked out (it is only a 0.1 alpha release after all) then it should be the perfect thing. It uses XULRunner, VLC, and a bit of other stuff which should be completely portable.
